I forgot to mention that one of the city hairdressers wants to sell my hair accessories in their salon. How cool is that?! I might have to take them around to a few more places...

Somewhere in the world, it's still Monday.  Enough talk, meet Swamp Thing!

I haven't really been neglecting this journal. Life just got in the way for a while. On the plus side, I have been doing a lot of crafting, and pictures will be going up starting on Monday (I have markets both days this weekend ... let's hope I sell millions!)

I'm really proud of this one.  Sewing all of those tentacles on was a bitch, though!

I sold 5 monsters at the markets today!  It's a new record.  My previous was three, and there's only been one market so far where I didn't make a sale at all.

Despite the less than ideal weather, the buyers were out in force for the Gorman House Markets anniversary.  I sold the Red Menace, the Little Terror, a blonde Cyclops, a Red Spy (red version of the Green Eyed Monster) and a baby flightless dragon.  I have pictures of all of them and I'll put them up when they're on the computer.

Note to self: Make Harvey teach me how to put pictures from his camera onto a computer so I can do it myself in future.

The only problem is I have to make at least 5 more monsters this week to get my stock back up to level.  I'm going to be horribly busy.

I have the plague (read:flu). I feel bloody awful, and that makes it really hard to get it together to make more monsters. I have a nearly finished Terror Of The Ocean (little blue guy with flippers and a dorsal fin) sitting on my table but I lack the motivation. The cough and constant sneezing don't help, either.

I got another set of animal eyes from the lovely Rebecca at Becali Jewels, so I am well stocked. She also sent me some doll joints, so I'm going to design a monster with moving limbs.

I have a bunch of great ideas for monsters, but having felt so sick for so long (I've been ill for about a month now) makes it really hard to get anything done.

The doctor wouldn't give me any antibiotics either. She said they weren't indicated by my symptoms. She did give me an asthma puffer though. So, steroids are ok, but penicillin is too much? O_o

My monsters and I are off to Melbourne for 10 days, to see Bob Dylan, catch up with some friends, and do some touristy things, like the Death, Dirt and Disease Podcast walking tour.  Exciting!

Ooh, and 13 hearts on Etsy ... I'm on my way to becoming popular.  Today, Etsy, tomorrow, the internet and the next day, maybe Etsy again!  (Magic Roundabout FTW!)

I have a new sales strategy.  It involves keeping my monsters in my car, mentioning them in passing, and then offering interested parties the option of coming back to my car to view the merchandise.  This new strategy came about because that is how I sold another green eyed monster to, of all people, my therapist.

I want a digital camera.  Just a little one, but a good one, and definitely better than my phone's camera.  That way, when I find a soap dispenser that resembles a dalek, the picture doesn't come out quite this bad:


To be fair, it is surrounded by mirrors which accounts for the glare.  It still sucks as a photo, imo.

I have also discovered a simple yet really uplifting pleasure:  Being hearted (added as a favourite) on Etsy by a complete stranger.  I'm all warm and fuzzy over it.

I just love him so much, and my mother managed to get a few good pictures of him!  He's a two-tailed, two-fanged, mustached, mohawked monster who began life as a werewolf, became a vampire walrus and ended up being nameable only by description:

I sold my winged terror, which implies to me that I need to make a new one, or two.  I went on a mad yarn spree today because Lincraft was having a clearance sale on all kinds of monsterworthy yarns.

A friend of mine suggested the mexican skeleton head as a good basis for a monster.  It seems like a good idea to me!

My mother's dog would make a great monster.  She's a Lhasa Apso, a Tibetan temple guard dog.  They usually look like this:


but my parents keep her fur close cropped, except for the fur on her head which is just too difficult to shear.  She actually rather resembles these:



I'd love to make some amigurumi chinese dragons and lions, or vietnamese unicorns, but for now my mother's dog would make a really cute plushie on her own: huge black eyes, big floppy ears, head seemingly too big for her body ... isn't that the epitome of amigurumi cuteness?
